Karon Viewpoint Phuket
Karon Viewpoint (which used to be Kata viewpoint) is one of the most frequented viewpoint in Phuket. It’s the highest view point in Phuket, there was over 500m above sea level. From here, it is possible to view 3 beaches of Phuket together, that are Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon beaches. Some of the local people called ‘Khao Saam Haad’ (Three Beaches Hill), but officially is calling Karon Viewpoint.
The northern vista from Karon Viewpoint is one of the most photographed images in Phuket and is an iconic outlook featuring the best of the island: sparkling blue sea, snow-white surf, white-sand beaches, an exotic nearby island (Koh Pu or Crab Island), and the deep-green hues of Phuket’s hillsides. It’s located at the south of Kata Noi Beach and on the main road that connects Rawai and Kata, you can look out directly to the Andaman Sea.
Normally, the tourist will not stay too long time here, this place is not so big, after taken a photo and stay a while, maybe abound 30 minutes they will leave. So it’s not crowd of people, but there still a lot of visitors everyday, mostly come by tour itineraries. On peak season, always can see a lot of busses waiting for tourist.
Karon viewpoint is also a great place for watching firework. During some of the festival celebration, you will able to see at least four firework shows stretching from Kata Noi Beach all the way north to Patong Beach. It’s impressive experience. All these 3 beaches were face to west, but the direction of this viewpoint was north, so you are unable to see the sunset directly, but take a photo here with sunset glow, it also a good choice.
